Too often we see decks where founders present tons of awards mostly given by people who don’t have a clue. We don’t like awards, they mean nothing and could give an impression to a founding team that they are on the correct path. The only awards that matter are the ones you get from your customer when they start using and abusing your service and even better when they start paying for it.
Some founders argue with us that awards bring PR, but what is the need for PR? Your PR is never going to be stronger than when a customer recommends your product to another one; that is called organic growth and it is the best / free marketing you can dream of! Product market-fit and successful scaling are the only awards that matter and all founders’ efforts should be directed at getting this award, no others!
